Command Sergeant Major James E. Diggs

Command Sergeant Major James E. Diggs enlisted in the Army in Montgomery, Alabama, August 11, 1982 in the delayed entry program. He completed Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Medic. His Assignments include two tours in Fort Carson, Colorado; three tours in Korea; Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii; Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Polk, Louisiana and Heidelberg, Germany. He served in 4ID, 18th MEDCOM, 197th Infantry Brigade, 24ID, AMEDD Center and School, 2ID, Tripler Army Medical Center and Sergeants Major Academy. His previous positions as a Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major were with the 2ID, 10th Combat Support Hospital, Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital and Europe Regional Medical Command. He has performed duties in positions from infantry platoon medic to Command Sergeant Major in TOE and TDA.
He has an array of military education, which includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, First Sergeants Course, Sergeants Major Course, Command Sergeants Major Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Airlift Planner Course, Hazardous Cargo Course, Unit Armorer’s Course, Generator Mechanics Course, Small Group Instructor Trainer Course, Faculty Development Course, Force Management Course and a host of nonresident courses.
His civilian education includes an Associated Degree from Central Texas College, a Bachelors Degree from Wayland Baptist University and a Masters Degree in Health Administration from Central Michigan University.
CSM Diggs awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (6OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Achievement Medal (7OLC), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (with bronze star), Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Liberation Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 4) Overseas Ribbon (with numeral 4), Southwest Asia Service Medal (with 2 bronze stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Korea Defense Service Medal. He also earned the coveted Order of Military Medical Merit, Expert Field Medical Badge, German Schutzenschnur (Gold) and Expert Drivers Badge. CSM Diggs was selected as the NCO of the Year in a myriad of assignments.
